Volunteer Stall at Wool Carnival

Could you spare 3 - 6 hours a month (or more) to help us keep the Library open? Working in a library is about more than checking books in and out. We are looking for volunteers who love talking to people, especially about books.  Do you enjoy reading stories to children?  Do you like using computers - could you help others or would you like to develop your own PC skills?

Our Out of Hours Team needs practical people who can help with minor maintenance such as putting up pictures, repairing book shelves or painting and decorating.  We need artistic spirits to develop the library environment and create displays.  We are seeking born organisers to check book inventories and to help with interlibrary loans.

The Library will not stay open for long unless we can find entrepreneurs to assist in fund raising, and volunteers to man stalls for occasional book and DVD sales.  Raising money means we can invest in the Library and develop a resource centre for the next decade – a centre that will represent the needs of Wool residents.  If you have opinions on this, we would love to hear from you!

Are you out of work or a parent who has taken a couple of years out to focus on bringing up your children?  By volunteering in the Library, you could keep up or develop your CV.  Should you wish to volunteer and enhance your skills, we are hoping to offer an NVQ in business administration.

If you think you might like to offer a few hours of your precious time, even if you are not sure whether it is for you, please contact Christine Reber on 07980 8888347 or email her at This email address is being protected from spambots.
